In the summer of 2009, The Nolans announced that they were going back on the road to tour the UK once again, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of ‘I’m In The Mood For Dancing’ which reigned the charts in 1979. At Universal Music’s request, the line up was to consist of the four sisters that took the group to it’s heights in their day, Bernie, Coleen, Linda and Maureen.
It was also announced that the girls would record a new album to coincide with the tour. ‘I’m In The Mood Again’ was released in September 2009, and went in at #22 on the UK charts. The girls first UK chart placing since 1984’s ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ album.
The album is produced by Steve Sidwell, a successful British composer, conductor, instrumentalist and arranger. Sidwell has worked with the likes of Robbie Williams during his live set at the Royal Albert Hall, and has recently composed the score to Disneyland Resort’s ‘Once Upon A Dream Parade’. Sidwell has also provided scores for several TV commercials.
The album features sixteen freshly recorded tracks, five of which are new versions of the girl’s best known songs, ‘I’m In The Mood For Dancing’, ‘Gotta Pull Myslef Together’. ‘Chemistry’, ‘Attention To Me’ and ‘Crashing Down’ (now ‘Crashin’ Down’). The remaining eleven tracks consist of covers of diva hits new and old, made famous by the likes of Bonnie Tyler (‘Holding Out For A Hero’), Gloria Gaynor (‘I Will Survive’), The Weather Girls (‘It’s Raining Men’) and more recently Duffy (‘Mercy’), Scissor Sisters (‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’’) and Girls Aloud (‘The Promise’).
The girls have thus far promoted their album well, performing on UK TV shows such as the Alan Tichmarsh show, This Morning and GMTV. The girls have also performed in Ireland where they will also be taking their new tour.
Album contributors include Annie Skates (vocal arrangements), best known as a vocal
coach on the X-
On the 11 October 2009, The Nolans kicked off their ‘I’m In The Mood Again’ Tour at the Nottingham Royal Concert Hall, UK.
