The Nolans - I’M In The Mood For Dancing

EPIC - EPC 8068

22 December 1979

Written By Findon/Myers/Puzey

Produced By Ben Findon

From The Album ‘Nolan Sisters’

UK Chart #3

‘I’m In The Mood For Dancing’ is the girl’s signature track and their greatest selling single to date, spending 15 weeks on the UK charts where it peaked at #3.  Mention The Nolans to anyone, and most will immediately think of this floor filler which would go on to reach #2 in Ireland and top the Japanese charts, which at the time was quite an achievement for an western European act, selling over 600,000 copies there.

The track was written by the bands regular line up, Findon/Myers/Puzey, and was produced by Ben Findon.  Bernie would take on lead vocals, making her The Nolans’ front woman and lead singer on most of their hit singles.

‘I’m In The Mood For Dancing’ was the second single lifted from the self titled album, Nolan Sisters.  Prior to the single’s release, the girls where billed as The Nolan Sisters, but shortly after ‘Im In The Mood For Dancing’ entered the charts, Anne decided to take a break from the group to have her baby, and the group would simply become known as The Nolans. Too young at the time, Coleen would not appear on Top Of The Pops to perform the hit single, until she was 16, when she would step up to replace her sister, Anne, with a more permanent role in the band.

‘I’m In The Mood For Dancing’ has been re-released twice in the UK; in 1989 where it reached #99 and then again in 1995 where it peaked at #51.

Lyrics

I'm in the mood for dancin', romancin'
Ooh I'm givin' it all tonight
I'm in the mood for chancin'
I feel like dancin'
Ooh so come on and hold me tight

Dancin', I'm in the mood, babe
So let the music play
Ooh I'm dancin', I'm in the groove, babe
So get on up and let your body sway

I'm in the mood for dancin', romancin'
You know I shan't ever stop tonight
I'm in the mood for chancin'
I feel like dancin'
Ooh from head to my toes
Take me again
And heaven who knows
Just where it will end

So dance, yeah let's dance, come on and dance
Dance, yeah let's dance, come on and dance

I'm in the mood for dancin', romancin'
Ooh I'm givin' it all tonight
I'm in the mood for chancin'
I feel like dancin'
Ooh so come on and hold me tight

Dancin', just feel the beat, babe
That's all you've gotta do
I can't stop dancin'
So move your feet, babe
'Cause honey, when I get up close to you

I'm in the mood for dancin', romancin'
You know I shan't ever stop tonight
I'm in the mood, I'm in the mood
I'm in the mood to dance
Yeah let's dance, come on and dance
I'm in the mood so baby dance
Yeah let's dance, come on and dance
I'm in the mood to take a chance
Yeah let's dance, come on and dance

Get on your feet now baby dance
Yeah let's dance, come on and dance
Can't you hear the music baby dance
Yeah let's dance, come on and dance...
